NKN Releases Mainnet V0.9 Beluga
On March 31st, 2019, NKN released Mainnet V0.9 Beluga. With the entire networking and consensus subsystems fully verified after Meerkat, this release focuses on ledger and security enhancements. V0.9 Beluga is the last major release before our final Mainnet v1.0 Narwhal, scheduled for June 2019.
NKN Forges Partnership with Three Leading Cloud Platforms
In recent weeks, NKN has forged partnership with 3 leading cloud platforms (Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, and DigitalOcean) to provide simple 1-click full node software that can be deployed within 5 minutes on nearly any size virtual machines. This is a world first for a public blockchain, and paves the way for large scale adoption.
AWS Marketplace launches 1-click NKN full node
March 26th, 2019, NKN is thrilled to announce the immediate availability of its NKN 1-click Full Node on AWS Marketplace. AWS users no longer need to fiddle with complicated installation and environment configurations. Instead, users can deploy a fully installed and configured NKN Full Node Virtual Machine with just a few clicks from the AWS Marketplace.
Token swap successfully completed with 95.5% ratio
On March 28th, 2019, NKN have successfully completed the vast majority of the NKN token swap from NEP-5 to ERC-20. At the time of the announcement, 95.5% of NKN circulating supply has been swapped. (334,222,240 out of 350,000,000). In addition, the NEP-5 smart contract is now locked preventing any further token transfers or trades. This concludes our 3 month campaign to migrate entirely to ERC-20.
NKN Mainnet launch plan unveiled
We are all eagerly anticipating NKN’s mainnet V1.0 release scheduled for June 2019, so here is a short summary of how we plan to transition from today’s testnet to mainnet for a smooth launch.
The current Testnet (based on v0.8.x) will continue as is, while the mainnet testing will start with the v0.9 release. We have intentionally separated the two branches until Mainnet 1.0, because there are major incompatible upgrades in wallet format and blockchain data structure. In addition, the test tokens mined on v0.9 Mainnet have no economic value.
NKN past present and future: UZI interviews co-founder
Past, present and future of NKN, an interview by @LilUziVertcoin and Bruce. One of the best interviews to understand NKN’s roots, principles, and its aspirations.
WiFi firmware with NKN node and GUI
Our community member Allen from Shanghai developed a new firmware for a common WiFi router, which runs a full NKN node and with graphic user interfaces. In addition, his firmware supports easy remote firmware upgrades. This will enable mass adoption for home users.
Simple NKN node manager
Community developer hashtafak built an open-source Simple NKN Node Manager, especially for miners who run a lot of nodes.
NKN is the new kind of P2P network connectivity protocol & ecosystem powered by a novel public blockchain. We use economic incentives to motivate Internet users to share network connection and utilize unused bandwidth. NKN’s open, efficient, and robust networking infrastructure enables application developers to build the decentralized Internet so everyone can enjoy secure, low cost, and universally accessible connectivity.
