R&D highlights

Github source code development progress

NKN testnet code development progress over the last two weeks is mainly reflected in nkn, nnet, nkn-sdk-go, nkn-client-js, nkn-wallet-js, nkn-mining repositories and different branches. In addition, the NKN core development team is spending a large amount of effort in rewriting and improving the consensus algorithms and ledger module on private branches.

The latest release: v0.5.6 was released on January 12th, 2019.

Bug Fix: Webpage redirects to sign in before creating account

NKN team spent two weekends and 8 hours working with Dr. Stephen Wolfram and Wolfram Research team. We will publish the results in a couple of weeks, but for now a funny quote from Swede White, Wolfram Research’s head of PR and marketing.

The screen shows one example of new data visualization of NKN Chord DHT routing protocol using the latest Wolfram|One and Mathematica tools.

NKN Announces token swap: NEP-5 to ERC-20

NKN announced on January 3rd the token swap of its current NEP-5 token to an ERC-20 based token. NKN is offering this swap option to our community in order to enable improved liquidity as well as leverage the large ecosystem built by Ethereum. However, it’s important to note that this token swap is voluntary. If you prefer, you can keep your existing NKN NEP-5 token and swap your tokens later at NKN’s mainnet launch later this year.

If your tokens are on gate.io, your tokens will be swapped automatically on their respective platforms. Official announcement from gate.io can be found here:

For all others, NKN is offering an official NKN web-based tool to swap your NEP-5 tokens for ERC-20 tokens at https://swap.nkn.org/.

NKN (ERC-20) token listed in Switcheo exchange

Ticker Change for NEP-5 NKN -> NKNO

The current NEP-5 version of NKN will be changed to NKNO on the NEO tab, during the scheduled maintenance on 14 January 2019, 3.30pm SGT, which will end at 5pm SGT.

Listing of ERC-20 NKN

NKN(ERC-20) will be open for deposits on Tuesday, 15 January 2019, 11.30am SGT (UTC+8) and trading will commence at 12.00pm SGT.

NKN (ERC-20) token listed on IDEX exchange

On January 11th, NKN’s ERC-20 token was listed on the IDEX exchange. As a leading decentralized exchange, IDEX uses smart contracts that allow users to manage their private keys and trade in a secure, peer-to-peer environment. The exchange also features wallet integrations such as a Metamask, in order to safely and easily manage funds without the need to manually enter your private key.

NKN Launches new Website

NKN launched its new web site on January 3rd which features a cleaner, more streamlined look as well as new content. Along with the launch comes 3 new portals that address the needs of NKN’s developer, miner, and partner ecosystems. These new portals will offer the NKN community an easy way to learn more about NKN’s efforts in these strategic areas. In addition, there is now a new and improved NKN introduction deck that features 46 pages of updated materials covering NKN, technology, business plans, use cases, and more.

NKN exhibits at Blockchain Connect 2019

NKN participated in the Blockchain Connect Conference: Academic 2019 in San Francisco on January 11th. Our own Yilun Zhang, CTO NKN, presented both a tech talk covering, “Technical solutions to achieve million-node consensus and 10k+ TPS with pure BFT-like algorithm” as well as participated in the panel, “Token Economy, Curation Markets and Technical Solutions”.

NKN also exhibited at the event connecting with academia, blockchain companies, investors, developers, and more.

Finally, NKN was recognized at the event as a top blockchain project by winning the “2018 Leading Pioneers in Applying Blockchain in Industries” Award.
